Oh to be a poet

And to write and write

To your heart’s desire

As you aspire

To poetic greatness

For when a poet writes

Poetry itself smiles and waves

At a poet in every artistic way

And when a poet writes

Words and lines tend to appear

From within the poet and at the core

For poetry without a poet

Impossible, as one couldn’t be

Without the other

For these two share an unbreakable bond

And share an alliance that surpasses

Time itself

And basking in a poetic essence

That cannot ever be put away

And placed upon a proverbial shelf

For the bond between a poet and poetry

Is unequivocally unlike anything else

When a poet writes…..
