The Venerable Tree

The venerable tree

And one that

Roots itself down deep

Into the ground

The venerable tree

That stretches itself out

More and more towards the sky

Without having ever asked why

Along with a strength and poise

The venerable tree

That has seen and felt much

Over many of its wise years

For if it could speak

What exactly would we hear

The venerable tree

That always seeks to amaze

And quietly grows without noise

Staying present and quite composed

With more vastness within I suppose

The venerable tree

That conveys a hardened outer shell

With a story to share and done well

That is readily shown

And even more interesting inside

That’s yet to be discovered

And left to the unknown

The venerable tree
