Have you ever had so much on the mind, that it just feels like the inside of your head is completely full? Full to the point of being no available space left in there at all for nothing else. Having so much going on in there, that you feel overwhelmed and restless. Feeling like you’re unable to shutoff your brain even for just a little while.
Constantly thinking and usually about things that haven’t occurred yet, or have happened but you’re too fixated on it. So much time spent inside your head that nothing gets done due to all the mental traffic. Or trying to take on too many items all at once, when there is only one you. You’re trying to do the work of two or maybe three people, and truly don’t know how to give your own self a much needed break. Having a hard time simply taking a short pause, and perfectionism may be the one of the culprits at hand. We as creatives can suffer from this, or even have creative blocks as well. Also feeling like there’s not enough hours in the day to complete everything. But guess what? How about just start and finish one thing first before moving on to something else.
The Task
Up to the task at hand
But in my mind many thoughts land
For if I could pause time
Just for a little while
I would do so with my powerful mind
As to alter how my thoughts tend to collide
So that I could take on one idea
With the completion thereof
To allow even more of the creativity
That I so surely love
So focus on just one thing at a time, and not try to tackle multiple items all at once. There is nothing wrong with multitasking, until it starts to get in the way of the actual priority itself. Sometimes as creatives we can be very tough on ourselves, and it is unfair and undeserving. Self preservation also includes the mind as well, so stay creative but not at the cost of burning yourself completely out in the process.
