There is nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing that could ever replace the human elements of art. No machine or software will ever have the heart, mind, and soul of a human being. Especially when it comes to art and all of its forms. We created it, or rather the Creator is and was the first one and we as creatives were given the talent and abilities to explore it even further.
To make it our own and to make the world a bit better of a place by having done so. No AI will ever take the place of, substitute, or have the creative ability shaped and formed by us. For it has limitations to creativity due to said programming or evolution, but we on the other hand don’t. For the one thing the machines and software will always and forever lack, is imagination.
Plus you can always tell the difference between us and AI art, we can always feel the human element lacking. Which in turn is happening more and more these days. Creatives and artists are being replaced by quick content, clickbait, memberships, and corporate statistics all for the sake of entertainment only and temporary gratification. Many creatives feel that also going in this direction, is the only way of staying or even becoming truly relevant at all. Well, that is quite a shame to be honest, because this should never be the case. We cannot trade these things for what’s real, natural, soulful, and heartfelt. So many artists today can’t create they way they want, they way their heart and mind leads them to. What happened to the real appreciation of the arts? Not just for monetary sake, although of course this is always nice, but also for the gain and necessity of humanity itself. The pure passion and essence alone, and then all else follows suit.
Human creativity cannot die, because it is a vital part of us. It must be appreciated for what it is, and not interrupted or corrupted for other means. We have to allow our artists to be themselves, and stop blocking them from doing so. Stop taking their work for granted, and allow them the true freedom of real artistic expression and creativity. The arts matter, have always mattered, and will always matter. And we must get back to all the things that make it not only great, but what defines us even more as human beings.
This post here is a rather personal one, especially being a poet myself and one that I’m sure other poets will certainly relate to.
So I began with this question, “Who the hell decided that poetry has no market or isn’t valuable enough to make a real living from?”
How many of us poets truly want to take our poetry further? How many of us poets would really like to make a good living from our poetic work? I’m pretty sure you‘ll get where I’m going with this one. Online you research poetry and ways to try and market it or gain money from it. But again, why is this the case anyway? Poetry is vital to our humanity and is very necessary and valuable to say the least. Each poet is unique and to what they bring to the art itself. What happened to the true appreciation for this art form? Why it is not widely accepted as before? Or why does it have to change with the times in order to be relevant at all? These questions linger in my mind every time I see this mess. Poetry is poetry and that to me is more than enough. My passion for it and skill of it is more than valuable and has its place in the world. Just like any other pure poet that brings such uniqueness to this art form, and with plenty to brighten up our world.
Now I didn’t get on here to rant, but instead to get an understanding of the times we’re in with regards to poetry. Even as a teenager, the fact I even mentioned I was a poet turned off my Dad. It’s like I said oh hey,,,I don’t feel like doing anything with my life worthwhile!! Even when it came to design, the same disdain applied. To be an artist, is not only an amazing privilege, but also one of the best things one could ever be or strive to achieve. Maybe I’m a bit bias here, but I will always defend the arts until my dying day. Because I’ve always been proud to be one, and not only that but to expand my talent, passion, and creativity into other areas of art as well. I mean why not? Who died and made someone king or queen and in charge of determining what is art and what isn’t? What’s marketable about it or not? If it deserves to make good money or not? If its trendy or entertaining enough for clicks or short attention spans? Or if it has any real value or not? And worse, is it even a viable career to do at all? Personally, all of this just pisses me off.
Well, long story short my fellow poets and artists as a whole, I urge all of us to just keep going. To not quit or give up, to keep that fire burning inside and never allow anything or anyone to extinguish it. What we have and possess, what we do and have to share in my honest and very personal opinion, is simply and completely invaluable. Crucial to this world and life, vitally important to humanity, and comes from our very core and imagination within. So don’t ever be less, be more. Don’t leave the chair as seen in the image above and place a flower there in your absence. You as a poet, as artists are irreplaceable. Stay strong and poised, stay bold and bring the noise, and never be afraid to be the poet and artist that is you. You’re here for a purpose with this, so go do exactly that and shine a brighter light on this world through you and your poetry.
Much love to poetry and much success to all of us poets.
