The Skin We’re All In….Post 8
Why would anyone hate anyone simply because of their skin tone?
“Hating people because of their color is wrong. And it doesn’t matter which color does the hating. It’s just plain wrong.”
— Muhammad Ali
How can anyone deeply hate a person simply because of the complexion of their natural skin, albeit different from someone else’s? Hate towards a skin tone, or for something else entirely? Hmmm, let me unpack this here…..
Is it jealousy? Is it unfairness, evil upbringings or intent? Heartless or cold? Is at the core? Are you just blindly following orders and others?
We would all play together in the sand box, run around, play games, etc but then something clicks at a certain age to dislike or even hate that same person you use to play with. Taught and learned behavior, along with bad habits is responsible for this. Spiritual and /or a perpetual hatred to go even further.
But I digress, there is so much on this topic alone that I could write and state here. But I won’t, because look around us! Observe what is going on around us each and everyday. A divided society, a one sided society, and also a society that feeds into the narrative of trivial race relations. Not in a good way either, just more of the same. But just like something can be learned, it can also be unlearned as well. But this depends on each individual person, and also each nation that represents a specific community and people. Hating or despising a person for what they have naturally, is simply foolish and ignorant beyond words.
“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”
― Nelson Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom
Instead of looking at a person’s skin tone, how about look at their character, personality, habits, intellect, hobbies, etc. A person of any shade can be either good or evil, its a free will and inherent personal choice. Again, what do I want to do or not, behave, think, feel, display, voice, etc. Seems like all of these factors along with certain traits tend to get skipped over rather often.
Basically the ones that matter most…..
Wow, just gonna hate a person on sense of sight alone huh? Without even getting to know them as a person at all? But hey, to each their own…But believe it or not, this behavior affects us all in more ways than one. And it’s way past the time to realize this and snap out of it already!
Scripture: Luke 6:31 Living Bible
Treat others as you want them to treat you.
This scripture means more than just simple words on a page, its an instruction of how we should treat one another. Unfortunately, as time and history have shown us all, this clearly has not been followed. At least not by everyone, nor anywhere near enough people that care enough to actually do so. I refuse to sugar coat this!!!
It’s time to stop ducking and dodging the truth and let the truth have its days from now on. So much has happened in the world to cause such a racial divide, but again, it will always come down to personal choice. And unless we as a society, and I mean as a whole around the world, go back to the childlike default setting.
Notice what I stated there above, childlike, not childish….
The default setting on that child that saw other children as similar to yourself, different in certain aspects of course but guess what? you still wanted to play with them anyway right? And you couldn’t wait to see them again as all of you saw nothing more than, we’ll just play together and have a good time doing so.
“Hating skin color is contempt for God’s divine creative imagination. Honoring it is appreciation for conscious, beautiful-love-inspired diversity.”
― T.F. Hodge
We must do better, and we can as long we stop following a dangerous narrative and decide to see a person as something way more than just their outwardly appearance.
